Education

Bethlehem has been a center of education since its founding in 1741. The Moravians believed in universal education, which includes the education of women. Many of the members of the Continental Congress sent their daughters to Bethlehem to be educated. This strong tradition of education has been continued with the presence of four colleges and numerous K-12 institutions. Today over 10,000 college students are educated in Bethlehem annually.
