Pre-Teen Studio Intensives for Ages 10-12

Studio Intensives are a part of ArtsQuest’s Summer Art Camp. They are designed to give pre-teen artists (ages 10-12) the opportunity to explore specific mediums and processes in greater depth in a fun and encouraging environment. 

Summer Art Camp will take place at Moravian University’s South Campus, located at 346 Main St. in Bethlehem, PA 18018.

Watercolor Painting with Emily Petras

Dive into watercolors in this introductory intensive. Students will learn a variety of watercolor techniques, and put their favorites into practice as they create multiple paintings over the course of the week.

Papyrus Paper Monuments with Marian Saman

Learn about Egyptian monuments and artistic processes during this studio intensive! Students will create papyrus-like paper featuring Egyption monuments.

Recycled Sculpture with Lexi Schnabel

Transform everyday recycled materials into unique and engaging sculptures! Campers will go through the steps of brainstorming, planning, building, and completing a sculpture using everyday supplies.

Perspective Drawing with Marian Saman

Create drawings with depth using one-point perspective. This technique will allow students to create a landscape or place where things (buildings, objects, or the landscape) shrink into the distance.

Intro to Crochet with Emily Petras

Discover the fundamentals of crochet in a fun and supportive environment. Students will learn to make a foundation chain, and master basic stitches like single and double crochet. They will learn to follow a simple pattern as they work to create a project of their choice, a hat or scarf. Students will leave with the confidence and skills to explore more complex crochet projects in the future.

Watercolor Portraits and Landscapes with Jackie Rambo

Campers will practice familiar watercolor skills and discover intermediate techniques while creating accurate watercolor portraits and atmospheric landscapes. Campers will be encouraged to challenge themselves and hone their skills in a lighthearted and engaging environment.

Developing Stories and Characters through Writing and Drawing with Cotty Kilbanks

Summer Jewelry: Breezy Beading and Wire with Allison Mackenzie

Printmaking with Katrina Heebner

Learn the creative possibilities of printmaking, which lets you turn your art into cards, stickers, and more. Explore a variety of printing processes including block printing, collagraph, and kitchen lithography with soda!

Upcycled Adornment with Beth Krumholz

Using found objects, vintage objects, and learning sewing and mixed media techniques, students will invent ways to mend and adorn their own jewelry baubles and fashion.

 

Sculpting and Sewing Toys with Cotty Kilbanks

Students will make a model toy using Sculpey clay, and then transform that into a hand-sewn stuffed toy. They will learn about pattern making, stuffing and other facets of toymaking.

Transform that old pair of jeans, jean jacket, or overalls into a streetwear fashion statement! Learn to design with patchwork, painting, and stitching techniques. Campers are encouraged to bring a piece of clothing that they would like to upcycle for this intensive!

Digital Drawing with George Pineda

This course will teach students how to navigate the user interface, tools, and shortcuts of drawing software on the Ipad like ProCreate and Adove Fresco. Fundamentals of drawing and design will be intertwined with engaging projects such as creating posters, book covers, and designing characters. Ipads and Apple pencils will be provided during this camp.

Bookbinding and Book Arts with Emma Ryan
