October Volunteer Spotlight

For the month of October, we would like to recognize Philip Antonis as our Volunteer spotlight! He’s been a volunteer since 2020 and has a passion for music like no other.  You’ll find Phil at the Musikfest Café ushering shows and at our SteelStacks Summer Concert series. We thank him for the ongoing dedication to our organization and can’t wait to see him more at our café shows!

Q: Do you volunteer anywhere else besides ArtsQuest?
A: No, ArtsQuest has exclusive access to Phil.

Q: What inspired you to begin volunteering?
A: Volunteering gives me an opportunity to mingle with the general public. I used to work retail, so part of me misses that on the spot interaction.

Q: Tell us something about you that most people don’t know.
A: I still purchase physical media. I’m two egg crates behind on my vinyl.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time when you’re not volunteering?
A: Most of my free time is spent with my cocker spaniel and kooky cat. When the animals aren’t glued to my side, I do like going to concerts. Some highlights in 2023 are: Ryan Adams, Zach Bryan, Gaslight Anthem, Blink, The Cure, Yungblud, The Roots, The Wallflowers, Foo Fighters, and Chili Peppers. I’m also excited to see Tool and The 1975 in November.

Q: What’s the first concert you ever attended?
A: Papa Roach at Croc Rock when I was junior in high school. We had to leave early due to curfew. I’ve seen them other times since then, but I’m still bitter I didn’t get to see the whole thing that night.

Q: If you could pick any act to play on the main stage at Musikfest, who would you pick and why?
A: The National. They’re a band I still haven’t seen. “First Two Pages of Frankenstein” is one of my favorite albums of ’23.
