November Volunteer Spotlight
Each month, our volunteer committee decides on volunteers to spotlight. For November 2023, the volunteer committee selected Richard Brownmiller! You’ll see Richard volunteer the most during Musikfest, whether it’s at Festplatz pouring beer for our patrons, or enjoying the Wind Creek Steel Stage concerts as an usher. We’re so happy to have him as a part of our organization and look forward to seeing him!
Q: What is your favorite part of volunteering at ArtsQuest?
A: I like interacting with people who are enjoying themselves at concerts or special events and nobody does them better than ArtsQuest. The bonus is that I get to work with wonderful people, both staff and volunteers. It is like a family, really.
Q: What is your favorite Fall activity?
A: I don’t have a single favorite. I like anything outdoors like fishing, hiking or biking. I also look forward to volunteering at Oktoberfest.
Q: What’s the first concert you ever attended?
A: I have been a “Fester” since year 2 and one of my fondest memories is the Queen Ida show at Kunstplatz. I can’t remember my very first concert but I can say that I had the privilege of seeing some of the greatest groups ever at the original Electric Factory when it was in an old tire shop in Philadelphia in the late 60’s and early 70’s.
Q: How long have you been volunteering?
A: 8 years
Q: Tell us something about you that most people don’t know!
A: I have never grown up. Ask my wife.
Q: In your opinion, what is the most important work that this organization does?
A: When I retired I became a member of ArtsQuest and a volunteer because of Musikfest. As I said, I have been attending a long time. It is the best of any in the country and I wanted to be a part of it. It was only after joined that I learned how much this organization does to promote the arts in Lehigh Valley. I have since become an Ambassador for ArtsQuest and enjoy volunteering at many of the events they offer. It has certainly made my life better as I am sure it has for many, many others.
