December Volunteer Spotlight

Each month, our volunteer committee decides on volunteers to spotlight. For December, the volunteer committee selected Bob Montgomery for the last volunteer spotlight of 2023! You’ll find Bob at all our 3 big events (Musikfest, Oktoberfest, Christkindlmarkt) and as one of our Musikfest Café ushers! He is a happy addition to all our other amazing volunteers and always look forward to seeing him.

Q: What inspired you to begin volunteering?
A: After retiring, I wanted to donate the extra time I now had to help an organization that I believed was doing helpful things for the community.

Q: Do you volunteer anywhere else besides ArtsQuest?
A: Yes, I also volunteer at the State Theater in Easton, Common Sense Animal Shelter in Harmony NJ and Celticfest.

Q: Tell us something about you that most people don’t know!
A: I am a member of the Lehigh Valley Wheelmen. I do 2 to 3 group bike rides each week all year long.

Q: What is your favorite memory from volunteering?
A: I had always enjoyed attending Musikfest for many years since I really enjoy all types of music and don’t mind drinking a beer or two. My first Musikfest volunteering is my favorite memory since I was now helping this wonderful festival from the “other” side of the beer table.

Q: What is your favorite winter activity?
A: Sking. Once the mountains open, I ski every week locally in the Poconos and also take several trips to upstate New York and Vermont.

Q: What would you tell someone who is thinking about volunteering?
A: To borrow a phrase from Nike, ‘Just Do It”. Volunteering for ArtsQuest is the ultimate win win situation. You get to meet a lot of good people and attend great concerts, festivals and events, while helping a very worthwhile non profit organization keep costs down enabling them to provide many free events for the community.
