ARTSQUEST ANNOUNCES 2022 MARCINCIN AWARD WINNERS

D.G. Yuengling & Son, Heaven on a Bun and La Mega Radio to Receive Awards on Musikfest’s Opening Night

BETHLEHEM, Pa.— D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc, Heaven on a Bun and La Mega Radio will be honored for their longtime support of Musikfest and the community when they’re presented with Marcincin Awards during Musikfest’s 2022 Opening Ceremonies on Friday, Aug. 5, at 5:30 p.m., at Wells Fargo Festplatz.

Established in 2003, the Marcincin Awards recognize ArtsQuest partners that have played integral roles in helping Musikfest continue to grow over the years while remaining free for all to enjoy. More than 50 businesses, media and community leaders have been honored with the awards including Frank Banko of Banko Beverage Company; C.F. Martin & Company Inc.; Just Born Quality Confections; St. Luke’s University Health Network; Air Products; the City of Bethlehem; and Lehigh and Northampton Counties. In 2008 Mayor Marcincin himself was presented with the award for the key role he played in helping to establish Musikfest. All recipients will receive a glass Marcincin Award, hand-blown by the artists of ArtsQuest’s glass studio at the Banana Factory.

“Musikfest welcomes guests from near and far to our city and our region every August,” said ArtsQuest President & CEO Kassie Hilgert. “While these attendees come for the music and the food, it’s the continued support of sponsors, community partners and our many volunteers who help to keep the festival free each year.”

“There is no doubt that our partners and community-minded groups are dedicated to the work we do at ArtsQuest,” Hilgert said. “They’re passionate and committed, so often going above and beyond, doing all they can to ensure Musikfest continues to thrive and reach nearly one million people annually. We are honored to recognize D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc, Heaven on a Bun and La Mega Radio for their incredible dedication, support and commitment to ArtsQuest and the Lehigh Valley over the years.”

The 2022 Marcincin Award recipients are:

D.G. YUENGLING & SON, INC.

A proud Musikfest sponsor for more than 23 years, D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc. has helped ArtsQuest present memory-making events for the festival’s nearly one million guests. The original partnership expanded with the opening of SteelStacks in 2011 to also include the Musikfest Café presented by Yuengling along with supporting sponsorship of the Central Tap, Summer Concert Series and Oktoberfest.

“It is an honor for Yuengling and we thank ArtsQuest for presenting us with this year’s Marcincin Award,” said Debbie Yuengling, 6th Generation Family Member and Employee Engagement & Culture Manager at D.G. Yuengling & Son. “We are proud to serve as a long-time partner for ArtsQuest, as they increase access to the arts and grow programming in the region. As America’s Oldest Brewery our partnership with ArtsQuest allows us to give back to the Lehigh Valley as the official beer and event sponsor at SteelStacks and for events like Musikfest and Oktoberfest. We look forward to supporting new and exciting entertainment for years to come.” Since 2017, Yuengling has been the official Beer of Musikfest and ArtsQuest.

LA MEGA RADIO

La Mega Radio is a long-time supporter of Musikfest, not only playing a vital role in our communication with the residents of the Lehigh Valley, but also as a programming partner – helping bring world-renowned artists to the festival, including this year’s closing-night headline act, Olga Tanon.

“For Mega Radio, the Spanish Radio Station in the Lehigh Valley, it is a huge honor to be acknowledged and recognized by the ArtsQuest organization,” said Victor Martinez, Vice President of Broadcasting. “We know how much Musikfest means for the Lehigh Valley and how important our relationship is. I look forward to continuing this great partnership and continuing to enrich and celebrate the Hispanic culture in our community with you.”

Victor Martinez and his team have also been instrumental in the planning and promotion of our annual ¡Sabor! Latin Festival held each June at SteelStacks.

HEAVEN ON A BUN

Operated by Jack Sinnitz, the “Bun” quickly became a ‘fest staple. Jack became the self-proclaimed Mayor of Plaza Tropical with his kindness and generosity to both old and new vendors. For years, Jack would provide lunch the day before the festival to all the staff, volunteers and anyone who may have been working on the festival grounds. He appreciated the business but appreciated putting a smile on someone’s face even more. Unfortunately, Jack passed away earlier this year. He will be truly missed but know the “Bun” is in good hands with his family.

“This acknowledgement serves as an appreciated recognition for the many contributions Jack Sinnitz made to Musikfest over the years,” said Joan Sinnitz. “To my husband Jack, the hallmark event for Heaven on a Bun each year was Musikfest. He was honored to be a part of the Musikfest community proving excellent food and great service to those that visited Heaven on a Bun. He worked closely with the organization as the leadership evolved over the years, and ArtsQuest Senior Vice President of Operations, Ray Neeb, held a special place in his heart. Musikfest was Jack’s source of great pride, and the family is honored to continue this tradition in his legacy.”
