May Volunteer Spotlight

Each month, our volunteer committee decides on a volunteer to spotlight! This month, the committee chose Judy, Linda & Wayne. They are staples of the Levitt season and you will see them at almost every show throughout the summer.

Q: When did you start volunteering with ArtsQuest and why?
A: I started the first year and have done every year since – 35 years!! I started with a friend who suggested this was a way to help and give back to our community and receive a free shirt – haha!

Q: What volunteer opportunities are your favorite and why?
A: Love volunteering at many of the venues – Café, Musikfest and other festivals and events, but LOVE THE LEVITT!

Q: Can you tell us about a fun story or a fond memory of a time you were volunteering at Levitt?
A: Just too many. There was one show where one of our regular patrons, a boy with down syndrome, won the raffle. He was soooooo excited and happy – he had all of us crying!

Q: How long have you been volunteering at Levitt?
A: Since it opened in 2011.

Linda

Q: When did you start volunteering with ArtsQuest and why?
A: 1985. I read about it in 1984 and thought it really sounded great. I couldn’t volunteer as John’s mother was recuperating at our house. We were able to get into town to see it and it was wonderful – people dancing in the street and everyone was so happy. I so hoped they would have it again next year and I could volunteer. Luckily they did and John’s mother was back home. Marlene Gilley signed me up and made me feel so welcome. I continued every year after.

Q: What volunteer opportunities are your favorite and why?
A: I love everything I do or did so it’s very hard to pick a favorite. I’ll have to say Levitt. It’s outside and I get to meet and talk to so many visitors! Also the music is great and it’s fun being known as “the bucket lady.”

Q: How would you encourage others to get involved by volunteering at ArtsQuest?
A: I tell everyone how wonderful it is. You meet and make great friends with other volunteers. It’s like a big family. There are also so many different things to do. Inside or outside, whatever you prefer.

Q: How long have you been volunteering at Levitt?
A: This is my 8th year.

Wayne

Q: When did you start volunteering with ArtsQuest and why?
A: I started volunteering in 2011 give or take a year. I needed to stay as busy and possible and to learn as much as I could about ArtsQuest.

Q: Something you are most known for is being at most of the events during the summer, what do you enjoy about volunteering at the Levitt Pavilion?
A: Being around the people and ArtsQuest employees and volunteers.

Q: How long have you been volunteering at Levitt?
A: Six or seven years.
