Discover the art of pottery in this hands-on introduction to wheel throwing. Designed specifically for adults with little to no experience, this class provides a supportive environment where you'll learn and build the foundational techniques of creating functional ceramic pieces on the potter’s wheel. Throughout the course, students will be guided step-by-step through the steps of wheel throwing, including proper clay preparation, centering, opening, pulling walls, and shaping forms such as cups, bowls, and cylinders. You'll also be introduced to basic trimming and surface treatment techniques to refine and craft a thrown form start to finish. No prior experience is necessary. Your instructor will provide individualized guidance to help you build confidence and develop your skills at your own pace. While wheel throwing can be challenging at first, patience and practice make the process both rewarding and one to remember. All tools, equipment, and clay are provided. Depending on the class format, students may also have the opportunity to glaze and fire selected pieces, creating finished, functional works. Whether you're looking to explore a new creative hobby, reduce stress through hands-on art making, or simply experience the act of creating something with your own hands, this introductory class offers the perfect place to begin your pottery journey.
