This month, we are thrilled to shine the Volunteer Spotlight on the Brenda Happ. With more than a decade of dedicated service to ArtsQuest, Brenda has served in many different roles throughout the years. She currently volunteers as a House Manager at the Levitt Pavilion as well as the Musikfest Café, and during Musikfest you will often find her at Liederplatz as a Site Supervisor, among other positions. Brenda is someone we can always count on to step in wherever help is needed, even at the last minute, and her years of experience are a tremendous asset to the volunteer team.
How did you get started volunteering with us?
It all started in July 2014; I was one week back from living in Denmark. I was actively volunteering while I was living in Denmark. So, when I saw an ad in the newspaper, Musikfest volunteers wanted. I went onto the website, was very overwhelmed by the application, and decided to phone ArtsQuest. Hilary was the volunteer coordinator at the time; I asked her where do you need help the most? She signed me up for three evening shifts as a stagehand. After my first or second shift, I called her back and asked for another. Total 4 shifts in my first year. It was all downhill from there…
Do you have any favorite memories from your time volunteering over the years at Musikfest or any other specific event?
My favorite memories over the years are being with all the other volunteers. I have met some awesome people and have developed good friendships.
What are some of your favorite hobbies outside of volunteering with us here at ArtsQuest?
My favorite hobbies outside of ArtsQuest; reading, gardening, baking sourdough bread and going to see live music and the theater.
