This month’s Volunteer Spotlight is Andy Soos! Andy, along with his wife Janet, has been a dedicated volunteer with ArtsQuest for many years. He is a familiar face in the Musikfest Café and at Levitt Pavilion, He also lends a hand at the Oasis during Musikfest and just about anywhere else he is needed. This past Musikfest, Andy reached an impressive milestone: 1,000 volunteer hours. It was an achievement he is especially proud of, made even more memorable by a friendly competition with a few fellow volunteers who were also closing in on the same prestigious hour’s milestone. Andy is always good for a laugh, a pleasure to be around, and someone we are thrilled to celebrate in this month’s Volunteer Spotlight!
What has been your favorite memory while volunteering with us here at ArtsQuest?
During the past 12 years as a volunteer, there have been many memories made, all of which are special. However, the most memorable was my “run” at making 1000 volunteer hours. It took on a life of its own with so many volunteers rooting me on.
If you could choose any band past or present, and money was no object, to headline at the Wind Creek Steel Stage during Musikfest, who would you choose?
If money was no object, being able to see many of the great bands of the “60’s and 70’s, I would love to again see Fleetwood Mac with all of the original members in their prime!
What is a fun fact about yourself that other volunteers might be surprised to know about you?
No one really knows about my passion for my garden. I love growing things from seed, tending the plants as they grow and then harvesting the bounty.
