Meet the Teaching Artist
My work has evolved over the years and I now lean toward sculptural pieces. These forms often start on the wheel as inclosed forms and then they are altered often with hand built additions. These pieces are then bisque fired and painted or sprayed with various chemicals. The piece is then placed in a sagar with natural materials and slow fired in an outdoor kiln in wood for several days. This process allow the forms to take on the natural colors sound in the earth.
Gable also continues to paint and is a juried member of the Pennsylvania guild of craftsmen. She teaches as well as shows her work in juried shows. Her on line presence shows her variety and scope of work. Her work has won awards and she continues to press the limits of form and function. Gable has taught both in public schools and privately for over 20 years. She finds that teaching a learning experience for her as well as her students. The currently teaches at ArtsQuest Bethlehem. DeSales University and 7th St studio in Perkasie.
