Welcome to the 43rd edition of Musikfest! One of the most exciting times of the year here at ArtsQuest. We’ve got a lot going on right now in preparation for the Lehigh Valley’s favorite party. This is the perfect opportunity to make sure you are getting ready for anything you might face during those 10+ festival days. Below are some suggestions and tips on how to be your best for the ‘fest!
Stay Safe
You may be volunteering for many hours doing several different things during the festival. This means you need to take care of your body. And watch out for your fellow volunteers and make sure they are staying safe!
- Be sure to drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Use your drink coupons!
- Take the time to rest (in shade) and remember to eat.
- Apply and reapply sunscreen. Often. And again.
- Get a proper amount of sleep every night.
- Lift with your knees, watch your step, ask for assistance, pay attention to your surroundings, and don’t rush.
What to Wear
Weather can be all over the place when it comes to an outdoor festival. Being over-prepared is better than being under-prepared in this case. Below is a list of what we recommend:
- T-Shirts – Your gold, or red for site supervisors 2026 Musikfest shirt! (No previous year Musikfest t-shirts should be worn during the festival. This is for safety and crowd control management in a crisis.)
- Shorts – We recommend non-athletic shorts that have pockets. The more pockets, the better.
- Rain Jacket – To ward off any weather juju!
- Hat – It can be tough to be in the sun all day.
- Sunglasses – Again, the sun.
- Sunscreen Lotion – THE SUN!
- Sneakers – You may be doing a lot of walking depending on your volunteer role, so do yourself the favor and bring your comfiest sneakers. Have a back-up pair in your car or at your desk for days when they might get wet. And make sure they are well broken in!
Download the App
Festivalgoers have a lot of questions. One of the most common is “Do you know where X-band is playing?” Be ready to check the app and provide directions with a smile.
Find Joy!
Take the time to enjoy this incredible festival that we put on. If you know one of your favorite bands is 22 playing and you can spare 15-20 minutes, go check them out for a song or three! Try the interesting food vendors that you’ve been hearing about in our press releases. Check out some of the cool bands and stop by Familienplatz to spark your creativity! One of the best parts of volunteering for ArtsQuest is how much appreciation you have for the festival compared to the average attendee. You know the work that goes into making it all possible! None of this would be possible without your help, and for that we cannot say thank you enough!
