Blade Runner: The Final Cut

1982 | R | 1 hr 57 minutes
Directed by: Ridley Scott
Starring: Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, Edward James Olmos

Harrison Ford stars in this fascinating, dark vision of the near future as a policeman who tracks engineered humans–a Blade Runner. In the year 2019, the police department forces Rick Deckard (Ford) out of retirement to hunt four genetically engineered humans who have come to earth. Designed to do difficult, hazardous work, the manufactured humans are stronger, faster and smarter than nonengineered humans. They feel no pain or remorse; they are almost indistinguishable from other humans … and they are killing people. Now Deckard must stop them before they kill again. Based on the novel Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick. Academy Award nominations for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration and Best Effects, Visual Effects.

This screening will be followed by a Q&A talkback with Gregory Reihman, Vice Provost for Arts and Libraries at Lehigh University.

Greg Reihman

Greg Reihman, Ph.D. is the inaugural Vice Provost for Arts & Libraries and a professor of philosophy at Lehigh University, where he has been a dedicated teacher, scholar, and leader for 22 years. As a visionary academic leader, Greg elevates the university’s libraries, art galleries, and performing arts center to foster environments where faculty, students, staff, and community members have meaningful, memorable, and transformative experiences with the arts and libraries. He has spearheaded major campus-wide initiatives on digital transformation and serves as a leading voice on the ethical integration of Generative AI.

In the classroom, Greg’s teaching deeply engages with the intersection of philosophy, technology, and the arts. In courses such as “Philosophy and Technology” and “Philosophy and Film,” he uses films, texts, and creative projects to challenge students to think critically about how technology shapes our understanding of reality and ethics. Across his work, he explores how devices, algorithms, and AI influence our beliefs, culture, and sources of meaning—bringing a unique, multidisciplinary perspective to discussions of cinema, artistic creation, and digital storytelling.
