Introduction to Figure Drawing

“This Introduction to Figure Drawing class is the perfect opportunity for adults who want to explore drawing in a relaxed and supportive setting. Whether your interests lean toward character design, anime, cartooning, or more traditional life drawing, understanding the basics of proportion, gesture, and observation will strengthen your skills and open new creative possibilities.

In this class, we’ll draw inspiration from classical art techniques—like gesture drawing, contour lines, and proportion studies—while keeping things playful and approachable. Students will learn how to capture the human figure, explore space and perspective, and develop confidence working from observation. We’ll take turns modeling for each other (clothed, of course), which adds variety and helps build a sense of community in the classroom.

No prior experience is required—just curiosity and a willingness to experiment. Even if you don’t pursue other kinds of artistic ventures, this class offers a chance to relax, create, and discover the joy of figure drawing.”

Erin Crimmins

I’m a graduate student in Art Education with a background in fine arts, especially drawing and oil painting. I love teaching students of all ages and believe that art should be fun, accessible, and engaging for everyone. I’m a Bethlehem local who finds inspiration both at home and while traveling the world to dive deeper into my passion for global art history. Outside of the studio and classroom, you’ll usually find me doing yoga, enjoying a good cup of coffee, or planning my next adventure.
