Oil Painting for Beginners
Many people find oil paint intimidating, and if you’re one of those people, this is your chance to find out what you’ve been missing! In reality, oil paint is a lush and flexible medium, behaving more intuitively and often feeling “easier” than acrylic or watercolor.
This class will serve as an introduction to oil painting, offering an approachable and confidence building workshop in becoming familiar and experienced painting with oil paint. We will go over all the oil painting myths and students can experience for themselves how accessibly we can all enjoy such a lush and engaging experience. Students will work from life completing simple still lives that display beautifully and contain tons of insight into oils, wrapped up in one painting!
Alexandra Schnabel
Alexandra Schnabel is a painter and art instructor who lives and works in Bucks County PA. Alexandra discovered her passion for oil painting at the Lehigh Valley Charter School for the Arts, and went on to earn her BFA from Pennsylvania Academy of The Fine Arts. She now enjoys creating artwork that explores the human condition and the variable emotional experience in response to the visual world, with themes that ponder the self and relationship with how we engage with the world around us. She frequently shows locally and enjoys engaging with the local art community, however she’s always looking forward to her next adventure in plein air painting, traveling, and collecting inspiration and experience with the visual world. She teaches a variety of community based classes locally as well as private lessons and creativity mentorship programs out of her home studio.
