Artist Statement:
My gestural abstract paintings range in scale from intimate wood panels to large-format canvases and incorporate acrylic, spray paint, charcoal, ink, and silkscreen printing. My process often involves pouring techniques and flow-enhancing mediums, allowing delicate veils of color to emerge and interact with layered imagery and mark-making. I explore the interplay of atmospheric spray paint, expressive chalk drawing, and intricate linear elements, creating surfaces that balance spontaneity with intention. Final layers of gloss varnish and resin seal the work, producing a luminous, glass-like finish.
My paintings are informed by the visual experiences and aesthetic nuances of places I have encountered throughout my life. Some works evoke the energy and vibrancy of cities such as New York and Los Angeles, while others reflect the expansive, contemporary landscapes of desert communities like Palm Springs. Through abstraction, I seek to capture the atmosphere, movement, and emotional resonance of these environments rather than their literal appearance.
I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Moravian College and currently live and work in Bethlehem.
