Natalie’s Daily Musikfest Picks - August 5

Today’s picks range from rock to full-on retro pop, so it’s the perfect chance to catch a variety across many stages. Here’s my list for the day:

JuliaMirallesBand

Julia Miralles

 1:00 PM – 1:30 PM
Yuengling Lagerplatz

 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM
Highmark Blue Shield Community Stage

Julia Miralles grew up around music through her father’s band, and it clearly influenced her. She started writing poetry before ever picking up a guitar and now writes rock songs that are inspired by Joan Jett and Fiona Apple. Julia has been described to have an old-soul quality to her voice that makes her worth catching early.

Listen to her performance of “Won’t Get Fooled Again” below:

Coby Siegel

6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
Main Street

Coby Siegel is a D.C. – based artist who blends jazz phrasing into folk-rock songwriting, which is a combination I haven’t seen much of on this lineup. He leans heavily into live performance and improvisation, so expect a set that will likely be unlike any of his earlier performances.

TabithaMeeks

Tabitha Meeks

7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America Zinzenplatz

Tabitha Meeks follows a full retro pop genre, best described as Norah Jones crossed with Nancy Sinatra. Her piano-driven set is the opportunity to take a break from all the guitar-heavy acts today and relax. She had a song go viral last year with millions of views which helped introduce a lot of people to her music.

Listen to her song “Good Life” below:

Garden State Radio

8:30 PM – 11:00 PM
Service Electric Festplatz

If you want a set that feels less like a local show and more like a full-on concert, Garden State Radio might be the pick to close out the night with. They’re a New Jersey cover band that’s been playing for over a decade, with multiple lead singers and a setlist that covers songs from the 70s to now, they’re the perfect nighttime set for keeping a crowd energized.

Those are my picks for the day. Enjoy the fest!
