Today’s picks include a lot of singer/songwriters, with a few acts that stood out to me for very different reasons. Here’s who I’ve got on my list:

Alexa Tabbacchino
12:00 PM – 12:30 PM
Yuengling Lagerplatz
7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America Zinzenplatz
Alexa Tabbacchino is only 24 but already does basically everything herself. She writes, produces, and engineers her own music. Her debut EP took three and a half years to make and covers some heavy topics; all combined in a sound she calls “folk with a pop flair.” With two performances today, you’ll have two chances to catch her set.

Sunrise Cries
1:00 PM – 1:30 PM
Yuengling Lagerplatz
The four members of Sunrise Cries first met at music school and later decided to form a band that combined classic rock, 90’s grunge, funk, and blues into what they call “new classic rock.” After playing more than 100 shows from New York City to Nashville, they gained plenty of performance experience along the way.
Watch one of their live performances in NYC below:

Famous Prophets
2:00 PM – 2:40 PM
Plaza Tropical
Famous Prophets is a six-member band made up of high schoolers, most of which are heading off to college soon. They’ve got a saxophone and a trumpet in the mix along with the usual guitars and drums, which isn’t something you see a lot in alt rock. If you want to see a band that’s still figuring itself out in real time, they’re a good pick!

Zoey & The Iconic
5:00 PM – 6:30 PM
The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America Zinzenplatz
Zoey started in music by playing classical violin at eight years old before switching over to bass at fifteen, and she now fronts the band while playing bass and singing at the same time. She’s already won a Best New Artist award back home in Central PA, so this feels like a solid set to watch before she gets even bigger.
