Bethlehem Steel Soccer Club: A Family Connection to America’s Soccer Pioneers

Discover the remarkable story of the Bethlehem Steel Soccer Club, one of the most successful and influential teams in American soccer history. Join local historian and author Daniel Paul Morrison for an engaging presentation that explores the rise of the legendary club that helped put Bethlehem on the national and international soccer map in the early twentieth century.

Morrison brings a unique personal connection to this history. Two of his great-uncles were among the Scottish players recruited to Bethlehem to compete for the powerhouse club, giving his family a firsthand link to one of America’s earliest soccer dynasties. Through photographs, research, and family stories, he will examine how immigrant players, industrial innovation, and the Bethlehem Steel Company came together to create a championship team that earned global acclaim and helped shape the development of professional soccer in the United States.

The Bethlehem Steel Soccer Club was widely regarded as one of the dominant American teams of its era, winning 11 championships between 1907 and 1930 while capturing numerous league and cup titles and attracting top talent from Europe.

Whether you are a soccer enthusiast, local history buff, or simply curious about one of Bethlehem’s most remarkable yet often overlooked stories, this presentation offers a unique opportunity to connect with the city’s rich sporting heritage and the people who helped build it.
Admission is free. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
