We’re kicking off the new year by shining the spotlight on Amanda Clark! Since joining us in 2024, Amanda has become an integral part of our volunteer team, serving as a regular usher in the Musikfest Café, joining and completing our ArtsQuest Ambassador program, and most recently shadowing as a House Manager at the Wind Creek Steel Stage during Musikfest! Her enthusiasm, flexibility, and willingness to take on any challenge have made her an incredible asset to our volunteer team. Please join us in congratulating Amanda as January’s Volunteer Spotlight!
How did you get started volunteering with us?
My daughter wanted to volunteer at Musikfest as part of her mandatory community service hours for her high school, so I signed up with her as her required adult! I had no idea it would be so much fun! I started volunteering on my own at various events and its now balled from there!
What are your favorite activities or hobbies when you have spare time?
I am a second degree Black Belt in Okinawan Shinmei Shorin Ryu karate and we practice several times a week at the Bethlehem Karate Association. I love to travel to new places, particularly places rich in history or lore. My first love (before my career in Medical Dosimetry) was Archeology/Anthropology – so I love to learn about culture, artifacts and history!
Do you have a favorite memory or a specific event you remember enjoying in your time volunteering with ArtsQuest?
At one of my early Musikfest Cafe shows I thought I recognized a couple of volunteers but couldn’t place where I knew them – well it turns out they were my first neighbors when we moved to the Bethlehem area! Thank you Kim and Chris for being the BEST neighbors and fellow volunteers! But my favorite part of volunteering is making new friends and so many have taken me under their wing and made my experience worthwhile – Ronda, Dory and Marta just to name a few! Thank you everyone for making me feel welcome and encouraging me to grow!
Can you share a fun fact about yourself that your fellow volunteers might be surprised to hear?
I met my husband in Australia and ended up living there for 13 years. My son was born there, and my whole family has dual citizenship.
