Brenda has been an incredible part of our team since joining us at Musikfest 2023! Since then, she’s stepped up to help at nearly every ArtsQuest event. Brenda is a trained Musikfest Café usher, has supported the roving EcoSquad on the Northside during Musikfest, and is a familiar face as a booth attendant at Christkindlmarkt. We’re thrilled to recognize Brenda’s dedication and invite you to join us to thank her for the time and energy she’s devoted to volunteering!
How did you get started volunteering with us?
I always knew I wanted to get involved in some sort of volunteering once I retired, but I wasn’t sure as to where. I met Ronda Senior a few years before I retired. She suggested I consider signing up for the Musikfest Volunteer Training, since I have looked forward to attending Musikfest each year for many years. And it took off from there!
Do you have any advice for newer volunteers just getting started out? Maybe there are a few things you’ve learned along the way in your time here.
Don’t hesitate to give any of the ArtsQuest events a try. The experienced volunteers are wonderful, and always willing to guide or lend a helping hand to the newer volunteers. You can volunteer as much or as little as you choose. And you will make a lot of new friends!
What’s your favorite memory or a fun story you experienced while volunteering at ArtsQuest?
I can’t think of a particular favorite memory up to this point. However, this opportunity has exposed me to so many new festivals, comedians, bands and musicians that I might not have made the effort to go see. There is a tremendous amount of talent to see at ArtsQuest.
What are some fun activities or hobbies you enjoy outside of volunteering?
My husband and I enjoy camping, traveling, going to concerts, attending the LV Phantoms and IronPigs games, and of course, spending time with our family and friends. When I do have some spare time, I enjoy making glass mosaics, a skill I learned from taking classes at the Banana Factory.
