ArtsQuest Creative Factory Artist Studio Rendering

The ArtsQuest Creative Factory powered by PPL offers rent subsidized studios to local artists in an environment that fosters creativity and collaboration. Artists interested in becoming an ArtsQuest Studio Artist should be dedicated to their work and interested in being part of a community of fellow artists. Artists must also align with ArtsQuest’s mission of providing the surrounding community access to arts, culture, and educational programs.

Studio Artists receive the following opportunities:

  • Low cost, subsidized studios. Studios vary in size from 200-900 sq. ft., with 24/7 access for artists.
  • Paid teaching opportunities for classes at the Creative Factory, as well as visiting artist residencies and community outreach program opportunities.
  • Monthly First Friday events include exhibition openings, live music, art-making and more. Studio Artists are encouraged to be in their studios during these events to engage with visitors. Artists may provide demonstrations and are also encouraged to sell their work.
  • Exhibition opportunities, which include a location for displaying artwork in the hallway spaces on the second, third and fourth floors, as well as an annual exhibition in the Capital Blue Gallery.
  • Access to the creative facilities within the building including the Air Products Makerspace, Ceramics & Glass Studios, and selected classrooms (for an additional monthly fee).
  • Studio Artists will be featured in a directory on the ArtsQuest website with bios, examples of artwork, and links to their own sites.
  • ArtsQuest staff will host quarterly Q&A sessions with artists to promote collaboration and communication.
  • ArtsQuest staff will meet with individual artists annually to review the expectations, answer questions, and address any concerns as part of the lease renewal process. If the expectations are met per the lease agreement, artists will be offered a renewal for one year. If expectations are not being met, ArtsQuest will determine whether to renew their lease and set goals for the artist to fulfill their agreement terms or not renew the lease.

Artists Wanted

Interested artists can apply for a studio space using the application on the ArtsQuest website. Applicants are reviewed by a committee made up of ArtsQuest staff, representatives from the Visual Arts Board, and community stakeholders including local artists.

Applications are kept active for one year past the application date, after that time artists are encouraged to re-apply. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis as studios become available. Please note, we may have a waiting list of artists who have already been reviewed and interviewed, which will take priority should a studio open over new applications.
