The Mic Is Yours

Warm-Up” Comedy Open Mic Night is your chance to take the stage, workout your material, and showcase your comedic chops. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or stepping onto the stage for the first time, this is your moment to shine! The list is put together through a randomly selected “bucket” structure and is capped at 20 performers.

Fostering a Supportive Environment:
At ArtsQuest, we value the creativity and humor you bring to our stage. Your ability to make people laugh is a gift, and we appreciate your dedication to your craft. However, we would like to address a few important points regarding the content of your performances.

While comedy is often a platform for pushing boundaries and challenging norms, it’s crucial that we do so responsibly and respectfully. We want to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and included, and where no one feels targeted or marginalized.

With that in mind, we kindly ask that you be mindful of the following guidelines:

Open Mic Guidelines

Respect for Fellow Comedians: Please treat your fellow comedians with respect both on and off the stage. Avoid making disparaging remarks or jokes at the expense of other performers. Let’s foster a supportive and collaborative atmosphere among all members of the comedy community.

Consideration for Marginalized Groups: Be conscious of the impact your material may have on marginalized groups, including but not limited to communities based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, and socioeconomic status. Refrain from using humor that perpetuates harmful stereotypes or reinforces discrimination.

Awareness of Sensitivities: Understand that what may be acceptable or humorous to one person could be harmful or offensive to another. Take into account the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our audience members and strive to create comedy that is inclusive and uplifting.

By adhering to these guidelines, we can ensure that our comedy events remain spaces where laughter is enjoyed by all without causing harm or discomfort. We believe in the power of comedy to bring people together and spark meaningful conversations, and we appreciate your cooperation in promoting a positive and inclusive comedy culture.

If you are found by our staff to have violated these guidelines in a malicious way, there may be administrative consequences, including being denied the ability to participate in the Open Mic.
