C’est la Vie is a 4-piece Gypsy Jazz band from Bethlehem, PA, USA. Inspired by Romani guitarist Django Reinhardt and French swing violinist Stéphane Grappelli, they play Swing, Waltzes and American Standards mainly from the 1920’s and 1930’s. The rhythm of C’est la Vie originates with the “la pompe” or percussive chugging of Ed Perenyi and Lee Daniels on guitars along with Mike Burns on upright bass. The melody is layered on top with leads by Bill Nixon on fiddle, Ed Perenyi and Lee Daniels.
