Since 2011, Boyle Construction has been more than a builder for ArtsQuest; they’ve been a partner in shaping the cultural and physical landscape of Bethlehem’s SouthSide. From laying the foundation of the Levitt Pavilion, to helping bring the new ArtsQuest Creative Factory powered by PPL to life, Boyle’s collaboration with ArtsQuest has been defined by shared values, vision and a deep commitment to community.
Boyle Construction’s relationship with ArtsQuest began with the creation of the Levitt Pavilion, a project that transformed a piece of Bethlehem’s industrial past into a vibrant center for live music and community gathering.
“ArtsQuest has had a tremendous impact on the Lehigh Valley for many years,” said Sean A. Boyle, President of Boyle Construction. “I have always admired their ingenuity, tenacity and ability to grow and scale into a powerful economic and cultural force for our region. The Levitt Pavilion offered an incredible opportunity to help create a one-of-a-kind venue and landmark destination for the region.”
Over the years, Boyle’s partnership with ArtsQuest has evolved alongside the nonprofit’s own growth. Together, they’ve worked on major initiatives including the ArtsQuest Center, the redesign of the first floor and now, the highly anticipated ArtsQuest Creative Factory powered by PPL and the Lehigh Valley Health Network, part of Jefferson Health Turn & Grind Shop.
“With every new addition – more programming, improved facilities and new venues like bars, theaters and performance spaces – ArtsQuest continues to elevate what it offers the community,” Boyle shared. “Boyle is proud to have played a small role in their success and growth in being their construction partners on many projects that strengthen Bethlehem and the SouthSide.”
Boyle’s involvement goes beyond construction. Employees volunteer at events like Musikfest, where participation has become a beloved company tradition. The company has also been a proud supporter of the Linny Awards for many years – an event that honors the region’s creative and philanthropic leaders.
With the Re-Imagine That! Capital Campaign underway, Boyle is helping bring the ArtsQuest Creative Factory, powered by PPL and the Lehigh Valley Health Network, part of Jefferson Health Turn & Grind Shop to life, playing an integral role in shaping the physical campus as well as the cultural landscape of Bethlehem’s South Side.
“The Creative Factory will become a vibrant hub for arts, music, education and culture,” Boyle said. “The Turn & Grind Shop is equally exciting. Helping to restore such a historically significant building – transforming it into a modern, energetic venue while honoring and preserving its original architecture and history is deeply rewarding.”
Boyle’s sponsorship of The Foundation Bar by Boyle Construction inside the Creative Factory further reinforces this connection. “Because our company culture values coming together and celebrating, sponsoring the Foundation Bar seemed like a fun and obvious choice for us. It’s not just about recognition – it’s about being part of something that brings people together, builds relationships and contributes to the cultural fabric of Bethlehem.”
As the projects for the Re-Imagine That! Capital Campaign are underway; Boyle Construction looks ahead with excitement and confidence in what’s to come.
“In the short term, we’re looking forward to the ribbon-cutting ceremonies for the Creative Factory and the Turn & Grind,” Boyle said. “In the longer term, we’re thrilled to continue growing our relationship with ArtsQuest. We don’t know exactly what they might have in mind for their next endeavor, but we’re confident it will be another one-of-a-kind, exciting project that brings life, entertainment and energy to the South Side while continuing to expand ArtsQuest’s impact.”
Reflecting on their shared journey, Boyle sees the Creative Factory as the next chapter in a partnership built to last. “Knowing how long and impactful the original Banana Factory has been, we expect this new building to welcome new artists, performers and events, truly reflecting ArtsQuest’s mission of continuously refining themselves and their programming to stay cutting-edge. Thanks to ArtsQuest’s creativity and ability to ‘re-imagine,’ this space will serve the South Side and the greater Lehigh Valley for the next 50 years.”
