It's our first annual Oscar-night party!
The evening, a fund-raiser for the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas, will begin with a Red Carpet pre-show dinner reception in the Blast Furnace Room before moving to the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas at 8 p.m. for an HD simulcast of the 85th Academy Awards.
Tickets for the Red Carpet pre-show event and simulcast are $50 for ArtsQuest Members and $55 for the public; tickets for the Academy Awards simulcast only are $10 for ArtsQuest Members and $15 for the public. Tickets will go on sale Tues., Jan. 22, 10 a.m., to ArtsQuest Members and Fri., Jan. 25, 10 a.m., to the public. They will be available at artsquest.org and 610-332-3378.
Proceeds from the Oscar-night party will be used to help us complete the industry-mandated conversion from film to digital technology at its cinemas later this year.
"We already have digital projectors in place at the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas, but we do not have the required digital servers,"says ArtsQuest Programming Manager for Cinema & Comedy Ryan Hill. "These servers are an absolute necessity and part of the new industry standard being implemented over the course of 2013."
The $55 Oscar-night party tickets include dinner and beer, wine and soda during the reception, as well as complimentary popcorn during the simulcast. A cash bar will be available during the simulcast.
The night's festivities will be hosted by Hill and SmartsQuest Trivia host Steven Bost, who also host the cinemas' late-night program "Ryan and Steve Bust a Movie". They'll be overseeing a silent auction of framed cinema posters during the Red Carpet pre-show reception and give away prizes - including Musikfest Cafe tickets, film passes and cinema posters - during the commercial breaks of the Oscars simulcast.
