A native of British Columbia, Canada, Jepsen became an international star with her smash hit, "Call Me Maybe," which has sold more than 10 million singles worldwide and hit No. 1 in more than 35 countries. In the United States the song spent nine weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100, while the video for the song has had more than 350 million views on YouTube.
Jepsen became a household name in her home country after finishing third during the 2007 season of Canadian Idol. She released her debut recording, Tug of War, in 2008 and signed with Schoolboy Records and Interscope Records in 2012, releasing her sophomore recording, Kiss, in September 2012. In addition to "Call Me Maybe," Kiss also featured the hit "Good Time," a duet with Owl City that reached No. 3 on the Billboard Pop chart, as well as "Beautiful," co-written by and featuring Bieber.
