Julie Fowlis, who will perform April 14 in the Fowler Blast Furnace Room, is a groundbreaking artist who continues to entice new audiences worldwide and push accepted musical boundaries with her adaptations of songs from her native Scottish Gaelic tradition. Her voice was most recently featured on the soundtrack for Brave, which hit No. 3 on the Billboard Soundtracks chart and 33 on the Billboard Top 200.
Fowlis has graced the stage at notable venues around the world including London's Barbican, the Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Mozart Concert Hall in Vienna, Edinburgh Castle and Glasgow and Dublin Concert Halls. She is no stranger to awards and distinctions, winning Gaelic Singer of the Year and Album of the Year (on two occasions) at the Scots Trad Music Awards, plus several other major accolades including Folk Singer of the Year at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
