Lopatcong Township-based stand-up comic to host 'Pretending to Be on Television'

Bethlehem, PA–The ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem, will be the home to Pretending to Be on Television with Glen Tickle, a new comedy talk show that will be produced live on the first Sunday of every month and feature local celebrity guests, along with musical and comedic performers. Tickets are $8 ($5 for students and ArtsQuest Members) and available by calling 610-332-3378, visiting www.artsquest.org/comedy or in person at the ArtsQuest Center Box Office. The show will be held in the Blue Cinema of the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas at 8 p.m.

Styled in the traditional late night TV format, Pretending to Be on Television will include host monologues, comedy sketches, musical and stand-up performances, and interviews with guests and celebrities with a focus on the Lehigh Valley. True to the format, Pretending to Be on Television will be 'TV clean,' meaning that you won't hear any words that wouldn't be allowed on late night TV.

Glen Tickle is a New Jersey-based comedian who has established himself as a staple of the Lehigh Valley comedy scene. He has won comedy competitions at the Allentown Fair and the Reading Comedy Outlet; performs regularly at area shows like Tickle Me Tuesdays at the Allentown Brew Works; and is a regular in New York comedy clubs. Tickle's background in ï¬lm and television includes an award-winning feature ï¬lm and many shorts.

"I've known Glen since he started at Tickle Me Tryouts," says Ryan Hill, Programming Manager of Cinema and Comedy for ArtsQuest and a Bethlehem-based professional stand-up comic. "He has become one of the best young comics in the area, along with one of the hardest working. I'm glad to get the chance to produce this show and excited to bring something that's both local and funny to our stage."

Upcoming Pretending to Be on Television shows:

  • Oct. 2, 8 p.m. – Guests: ESPN Radio's Matt Markus, local belly button lint artist Rachel Case and musical guest Jesse Gimbel.
