NEW PEEPS® & FRIENDS BREAKFAST AT ARTSQUEST CENTER DEC. 30

BETHLEHEM, PA—Kids and their parents and grandparents are invited to enjoy a fun-filled morning at PEEPS Fest™ when the Just Born PEEPS® Chick and some special friends get together for the first-ever PEEPS® & Friends Breakfast Dec. 30 from 10:30 a.m.-noon.

The PEEPS® & Friends Breakfast, which will take place in the Musikfest Café of the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem, is a family-focused event featuring appearances by and photo opportunities with three popular Just Born mascots: the Just Born PEEPS® Chick, HOT TAMALES® Fireball and the PEANUT CHEWS® Bar. Everyone who attends the breakfast receives one free photo with the mascots, a voucher for one free s'more making kit at PEEPS Fest™ and a free goodie bag filled with Just Born treats. The morning also includes live entertainment, a bounce house and a delicious hot breakfast including pancakes and waffles with assorted toppings, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, fresh sliced fruit, assorted juices and coffee and hot tea.

Tickets for the PEEPS® & Friends Breakfast are $24.95 for ages 11 and older, $10.95 for ages 2-10 and $6.95 children under age 2. They may be purchased at www.artsquest.org/peepsfest or by calling 610-332-3378. Seating for the event is limited, so advance purchase is highly recommended.

While the breakfast offers the best opportunity to catch the Just Born mascots together at PEEPS Fest™, all three will also take part in the PEEPS Fest™ Mascot Dash, set for Dec. 31 at noon. The 50-yard dash, which will take place on First Street in front of the ArtsQuest Center, will feature eight area mascots putting their best foot, paw or claw forward as they compete to see who will be the fastest to the finish line. In addition to PEEPS® Chick, HOT TAMALES® Fireball and PEANUT CHEWS® Bar, the race will include the Lafayette College Leopard, Lehigh Valley SteelHawks' mascot, Little Caesar's "Little Caesar," Red Robin's "Red" and Subway's "Subdude." Kids are invited to come out and cheer on their favorite mascots, then stay and take part in the first-ever PEEPS Fest™ Kids Fun Run for Ages 3-10, which will take place immediately following the dash. Cost to enter the fun run is $20 and each participant receives a T-shirt, water bottle and PEEPS®. Information and registration forms for the fun run are available at www.artsquest.org/peepsfest. A dynamic, interactive family event highlighting the beloved marshmallow confection, PEEPS Fest™ offers four days of live music, art and PEEPS®-related programming presented by Just Born, Inc. and ArtsQuest, Dec. 28-31, noon-5 p.m., at the ArtsQuest Center in Bethlehem. The festival, which features free admission (some events and activities require a ticket) concludes Dec. 31 at 5:15 p.m. with the dropping of the 85 lb., 4.5-foot-high lighted PEEPS® Chick and fireworks to welcome in the New Year. For more information, visit www.artsquest.org/peepsfest.

PEEPS FEST™ADDS ADDITIONAL ATTRACTIONS TO FESTIVAL LINEUP

The PEEPS Fest™ fun keeps getting sweeter as festival organizers have added several free, new attractions to the festival lineup.

On Dec. 29 from 2:30-3:30 p.m., children and their parents can explore the world of liquid nitrogen with the Air Products LIN Cream Demonstration. The Air Products liquid nitrogen (LIN) Ambassador Demonstration Program has been amazing young and old alike since the 1970s. Demonstrations are done by Air Products employees who volunteer their time to help groups learn about the magic of LIN and experience the wonders of science. The highlight of the demonstration is the making of LINcream. The LIN ambassador makes it in minutes by pouring LIN into traditional ice cream ingredients. Most agree that LINcream is the freshest ice cream they have ever tasted. At PEEPS Fest™, PEEPS® will be used in the ice cream making process, and free samples will be given out.

Also on Dec. 29 at 2 p.m., the PEEPS Fest™ Lehigh Valley Scholastic Diorama Competition winner will be announced. A festival favorite, the diorama competition showcases dozens of dioramas – all featuring PEEPS® – made by school students from throughout the region. As in past years, the grand-prize winner of the competition will be invited to drop the lighted PEEPS® Chick on Dec. 31 at 5:15 p.m.

During PEEPS Fest™, families will also have the opportunity to take part in hands-on visual art activities with the visual artists from the Banana Factory community arts center. The demonstrating artist schedule is as follows:

Dec. 28 & 30, noon-2 p.m.

Cherished Memory - PEEPS® with Virginia Abbott

Join sculptor Virginia Abbott to help her arrange, glue and paint found objects to create a wonderful PEEPS® sculpture.

Dec. 29, noon-2 p.m.

Recycled Art Project with Beth Ann Ballek

Children of all ages are invited to work with mixed media artist Beth Ann Ballek to turn recycled and found objects into "ECO" Fashionable Jewelry.

Dec. 30-31, noon-5 p.m.

Mosaic Demos with Kim Hogan

It's tons of fun as kids join mosaic artist Kim Hogan to create beautiful PEEPS® related mosaics.

Dec. 31, noon-5 p.m.

"Illusive" Sidewalk Art Masterpiece with Holly Fields-Scott

Starting at noon, kids and adults are invited to meet artist Holly Fields-Scott at the base of the orange circular staircase on the second floor of the ArtsQuest Center to help her create a PEEPS® inspired architectural illusion. Guests can participate in executing a forced perspective mural and see how the illusion of depth is created when viewed from one spot. Help color in the mural or just observe it coming to life before your eyes as we move closer and closer to 2012.

In addition to adding new activities at PEEPS Fest™, ArtsQuest and Just Born, Inc. have extended the hours for the Family New Year's Eve Party Dec. 31. Originally scheduled for 1-3 p.m., the party will now take place from 1-4:30 p.m., giving families even more time to enjoy the event.

Attractions and activities at the New Year's Eve Party include dancing to DJ Wiggles, New Year's arts & crafts, a bounce house, face painting and fun with Tootsee the Clown. After the event, families are invited to stay for the free fireworks display and PEEPS® Chick drop, which will take place outdoors on the SteelStacks campus at 5:15 p.m.

Admission to the Family New Year's Eve Party is $5 for ages 18 and under and free for adults; a voucher for one free s'more making kit is included with each paid admission, while supplies last.
