IT'S ALL FUN AND GAMES AT OKTOBERFEST PRESENTED BY YUENGLING

New Festival at SteelStacks Features Dachshund Races, Truck Pull, Barrel Rolling, Quoits & More

BETHLEHEM, PA—Members of the public are invited to put themselves right in the middle of all the fun and festivities of Oktoberfest presented by Yuengling by participating in one of the exciting games and competitions planned for the festival, set for Sept. 29-Oct. 2 and Oct. 6-9 at SteelStacks in Bethlehem. All events will take place at Spielplatz, located adjacent to the Yuengling Festhalle Tent; three of the events - the dachshund races, 1st Annual Lehigh Valley Quoit Open Championship and the Truck Pull Competition - require advance registration.

Truck Pull Competition

Oct. 8, 2-4 p.m.n

Pre-registration required It's a test of strength and determination as teams of up to 20 people compete while pulling a 40,000-pound Yuengling truck 100 feet. This is an awesome event for fitness clubs, fraternities and sports teams to take part in! All participants receive an official Oktoberfest presented by Yuengling T-shirt and free admission to the festival that day, and the winning team takes home Oktoberfest championship mugs. Cost is $25 per person and $500 per team. All competitors must be at least 18 years of age, and teams must pre-register at www.artsquest.org/oktoberfest.

Dachshund Races

Oct. 1, 2 and 8:30 p.m.n

Pre-registration required It's each dachshund for him or herself as these lovable dogs compete against each other while racing 75 feet from one owner to the other. Cost is $40 for each 2-person team, and entry fee includes official Oktoberfest presented by Yuengling T-shirts for both participants, as well as admission to the festival that day. All competitors must pre-register at www.artsquest.org/oktoberfest.

1st Annual Lehigh Valley Quoit Open Championship

Oct. 2, noon-9 p.m.n

Pre-registration required Show off your quoits skills while competing for cash and prizes. The first-place winner takes home a cash prize, two slate quoits board sets and receives free entry into the 2012 Lehigh Valley Quoit Open Championship. Cost is $40 per team, and all competitors receive free admission to the festival that day. All teams must pre-register by Sept. 30 at www.artsquest.org/oktoberfest.

Mini Burger Eating Contest Sponsored by MINI of Allentown and Applebee's

Oct. 9, 2:30 p.m.

Only 10 spots are available for this deliciously competitive event during which the person who eats the most mini burgers in five minutes is declared the winner. Entry fee is $5 and competitors can register on-site.

Barrel Roll Competitions

  • Sept. 29, 8:30-9:30 p.m.
  • Sept. 30, 4:30-5:30 & 9-10 p.m.
  • Oct. 1, 3:30-4:30 & 7:30-8:30 p.m.
  • Oct. 2, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Oct. 6, 10-11 p.m.
  • Oct. 7, 5-6 & 7:30-8:30 p.m.
  • Oct. 8, 5:30-6:30 & 9:30-10:30 p.m.
  • Oct. 9, 6-7 p.m.

It's time to Roll Out the Barrel as 2-person teams try to post the fastest time while rolling a beer barrel over a 50-foot course. The winning team receives official Oktoberfest T-shirts. Entry fee is $5 per person/$10 per team, and teams can register on-site.

Beer Stein Racesn

  • Sept. 29, 7-8 p.m.
  • Sept. 30, 3-4 and 7:30-8:30 p.m.
  • Oct. 1, 5-6 and 9-10 p.m.
  • Oct. 2, 8-9 p.m.
  • Oct. 6, 8:30-9:30 p.m.
  • Oct. 7, 3:30-4:30 & 7:30-8:30 p.m.
  • Oct. 8, 7-8 and 11-midnight
  • Oct. 9, 7:30-8:30 p.m.

In this head to head competition, participants aim to be the fastest to the finish line while spilling the least amount of beer from the six mugs they're holding. The winner of each round takes home an official Oktoberfest presented by Yuengling T-shirt. Cost is $5 per person, and registration is done on-site.

An authentic Oktoberfest with a special Pennsylvania flair, Oktoberfest presented by Yuengling will showcase 40 live performances by the best in polka, rock and party bands, as well as German food, an artists' market, children's arts and craft activities and more. The event, which will take place Sept. 29-Oct. 2 and Oct. 6-9 at SteelStacks in Bethlehem, will also feature a variety of entertaining games and attractions include barrel rolling competitions, dachshund racing, beer stein races, a mini burger eating contest, a microbrew tasting and a parade.
