BETHLEHEM, PA— The diverse works created by ArtsQuest's™ resident artists at the Banana Factory® will be featured in the Crayola Gallery of the Banana Factory, 25 W. Third St., Bethlehem, during the "ArtsQuest Resident Artists' Annual," on display Aug. 27-Oct. 30.
The artists' annual showcases the wide range of artwork created at the Banana Factory, while highlighting the talents of the more than 25 artists who call the arts center home. The show features a variety of two- and three-dimensional works include photography, painting, stained glass, sculpture, mixed media and more.
"At ArtsQuest, we encourage growth on all levels whether it be professional, personal or creative," says ArtsQuest Director of Visual Arts and Education Janice Lipzin. "In recent months, many of our artists have taken their work in a new direction. Creating art is an ever-evolving process, and when an artist makes a creative breakthrough and his sensibility shifts, it makes for an exciting show."
Crayola Gallery exhibitions are underwritten by Cornerstone Advisors. Gallery hours are 8:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. Dominican artist Ramon Peralta's interpretations of the human figure are the focus of "Reflects," the new exhibition appearing at the Banana Factory Aug. 20-Oct. 23. The show, which will be on display in the Hallway to the Arts, features 16 mixed media works created using mediums such as pencil, ink, oil paint and wax.
Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, Peralta studied painting and drawing at the National School of Fine Arts in Santiago, and drawing at the Art Students League of New York. His work has been exhibited throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region and the Dominican Republic, including the Allentown Art Museum, Baum School of Art in Allentown and Casa De La Cultura Dominicana in New York City.
Gallery hours for Reflects are 8:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. The exhibition's reception will take place Friday, Sept. 2, 6-9 p.m. The event is free and open to the public; light refreshments will be served.
