News Release - 4/28/2008

Pennsylvania Youth Theatre
2007/2008 MainStage Season

NEWS RELEASE

DATE: April 28, 2008
CONTACT: Pennsylvania Youth Theatre (PYT) Madeleine Ramsey, Artistic Director 610-332-1400

Share the gift of theatre with a child in your life!* Pennsylvania Youth Theatre's final Mainstage production of the season promises to be a whimsical and enchanting theatre outing for children and young audiences. "Through theatre, children can learn about themselves, wonder about who they might become, and be challenged by the wisdom and whimsy of what they experience,” PYT Artistic Director Madeleine Ramsey says.
"Each of our productions is based on the finest in children's literature
- the true classics."

Newly added family programs include PYT's Family Workshops, which give you and your children an opportunity to use your creative spirits while learning about the show's story, theme and production elements.

Offered an hour and a half before show time, this is a chance to "get into the act" and develop a greater understanding and appreciation of the play you are about to see.

PYT will also offer exciting and informative post-show discussions that give audience members an opportunity to meet the actors, ask questions, and learn about the realities of creating theatre. Led by Jill Dunn, Outreach Director, Meet the Actors will begin immediately following the designated shows.

In May, PYT presents the beloved play, "Disney’s Beauty and the Beast".
This sumptuous production of the long-running Broadway musical is the timeless story of a young girl’s journey from her safe and familiar home to a mysterious palace. There she discovers a world of wondrous riches and learns the fearsome secret of the tragic beast who loves her. This charming and immensely theatrical production features beautiful music, sets and costumes and is brought to life by a cast of 70 actors, singers and dancers.

With music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, the audience is taken on a wonderful adventure of self-discovery, acceptance and tolerance. It truly supports the old adage; “You can’t judge a book by its cover.”
